Job Summary:


Leads prenatal and postnatal patient education classes, including but not limited to, childbirth preparation, baby care, breastfeeding and maternity tours in a variety of Hartford Hospital educational settings.


Responsibilities:


Provides educational support to parents and families attending prenatal and postnatal classes according to developed curricula and guidelines.

Offers feedback to the program coordinator regarding programs, supplies and individual patient needs.

This is a per diem position working week-day evenings and Saturdays and travelling to teach outside the hospital within the community (teaching in areas such as West Hartford, Glastonbury, Wethersfield, Enfield and Avon).


Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:


RN CT License.

RN Diploma, BS in Nursing or BS, BA non-nursing.

Minimum two years of previous Registered Nurse experience within Women’s Health and working with expectant and new families.

Patient teaching experience preferred.

Certification in area of specialty (IBCLC, Certified Lactation Counselor, Prepared Childbirth Education-PCE) is preferred.

Education:


RN Diploma, BS in Nursing or BS, BA non-nursing.
